Pick & Mix - download individual chapters from Lonely Planet

Hi all

Over the years many travellers have told us they'd really love the ability to take just the parts of our books they really want and need. We've thought about how best we could do this, and this year presented our foray into the world of Pick & Mix

Pick & Mix is just that - you can pick, download and print only the chapters you need in digital (PDF) format.

To start, we (digitally) chopped up all of our guidebooks on South America, Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean. We’ve now carved up Canada.

Check out the new Pick & Mix chapters for British Colombia, Montreal & Quebec City, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick & Prince Edward Island and Toronto. Click here to download the first chapter of each guide for free.

Who needs a guidebook?

Is the guidebook doomed? Is it possible to write one without some sort of cultural bias?

Long time Thorn Tree poster Fieldgate prefers to eschew the printed word when travelling, and they've prompted an interesting discussion about the role of guidebooks for the modern wanderer.

We'd like to know what you think. There's two parallel discussions around this idea. Have you say in one or both of our Threads of the Day.
